The COVID-19 crisis has impacted healthcare facilities around the world, placing a burden on resources and training. There is now more than ever, an urgent need to train medical professionals in ICU protocols quickly and efficiently. New York has been one of the centers of the outbreak, and caseloads continue to increase.
New York City Health + Hospitals, the most extensive public healthcare system in the United States with eleven acute care hospitals spanning the five boroughs, has quickly responded with the development of a new training program at iMSAL, the Institute of Medical Simulation and Advanced Learning at Jacobi Medical Center. The training will on-board over 1,000 nurses and doctors from all around the country in vital skills. Many of the critical skills are being taught through simulation, including central line insertion, line maintenance, airway management, and intubation.
To meet their immediate training needs, Simulab shipped five AirwayMan, airway management training systems the day they needed them. It has felt very rewarding for our team to be able to help at a time when they were in need of solutions.
